Yum, yum, yum! This is my first time making mac and cheese from scratch. Adam has made some for me before and it was really good! I was standing in line at Whole Foods when, as always, I saw the Food Network Magazine. This month’s issue was all about CHEEEEEESE!!!!! OMG YUM! moment 🙂 Naturally, I had to buy it… the best tip people give you when going to the grocery store is to not go when you are hungry and yeah, I was hungry!
This weekend I chose to make recipe #19, Ham and Peas Mac and Cheese
I added a few twists to the recipe
– More cheese (Velveta and Cheddar)
– Diced Mushrooms (Sauteed them in a pan and added them to the Mac and Cheese at the end before baking it).
I put the Mac and Cheese in a glass baking pan and sprinkled extra grated Cheddar cheese on top. I then broiled it for 15 minutes at 425F (kept a close eye as to not burn it).
Suggestions for next time: Add sauteed diced onions and some Canadian bacon to give it extra flavor 🙂 (or cubed Pancetta).
